What is a URL?

A "universal resource locator" is the unique address you type in to view a web page on the Internet. For example, to reach our home page you would type in http://www.webflashbacks.com.

What is a domain name?

A domain name is a specific web site address that you purchase from a Registrar such as register.com or hostmonster.com.  There are several domain variations such as .com, .edu, and .gov.

What if I am in a different area?

We are able to work with clients locally in Southern California as well as out of state.  It is our highest priority to use the Internet, email and telephone communication effectively with our clients no matter where they may be located.

How long does it take to complete the web site design?

The time frame is determined by the amount of pages and content of your web site, the complexity of your site design graphics layout, and our current client schedule.  Our estimated completion time for most sites can range from 3-4 weeks, but this will be defined precisely during the initial contract.

What is a web hosting company?

A Web hosting company provides server space for your site and (in most cases) guaranteed connectivity to the internet. What if I already have a Hosting company for my existing site?

We will make reasonable efforts to work with your existing hosting company. But in some cases we may recommend that you transfer your domain or account to a different host. A perfect case for this would be if your are hosting with a Windows only host, but your site redesign will need to have a PHP and mySQL database. This type of server technology would require a Linux/Unix host and not Windows.

How long does it take for my site to be found in the search engines?

We submit a site map for all of our clients to the major search engines and ensure that many of the search engine optimizations are implemented on your site prior to launch. But even once your site has been submitted it may take several weeks for all of the engines to list your web site in their directory. We may also suggest you use a Search Engine Submission services such as Orange Submit.

How do I decide what content to use on my site?

The answer to this will depend on the goal of your web site and your business. If you are running a website with a shopping cart, then you might want to include very detailed product information and descriptions so that your customers will be able to search more effectively and thereby shop more easily. On the other hand, if you business is not retail items, then you may want to use your site more like an advertising and informational tool to get potential customers more familiar with your services before they visit you in person.
